The bad news is for the women as it has been found that diabetic women have a higher chance of suffering from cancer in comparison to men who have diabetes.

This is extremely shocking as already 415 million people all over the world suffer from diabetes. India also has a really huge population of people suffering from diabetes.

What does the study say?

The study had a large number of participants and it says that women with diabetes were 27% more likely to have cancer later in life when compared to those women who don’t have diabetes. Talking about the men, the risk is 19% more in diabetic men when compared to those who don’t have diabetes. The results are valid for women with both the kinds of diabetes- type 1 and type 2.

This study also identified the different kinds of cancers that can affect diabetic women. It has been found that women suffering with diabetes have a higher risk of developing cancer of the kidney, oral cancer, leukemia and stomach cancer when compared to men with diabetes. According to researchers, increased blood glucose levels alter the DNA and lead to development of tumours and cancers. Experts have been able to establish a link between diabetes and the higher risk of developing cancer.

A lot more has to be learnt about diabetes despite the fact that the population of people suffering from diabetes has doubled in the last 30 years all over the world.

Foods to regulate blood sugar levels naturally

Following a healthy diet and lifestyle is an only way to stay away from diabetes. Here is a list of foods that will help in regulating your blood sugar levels naturally.

1) Oats

Oats are a great option for breakfast and work really well in regulating your blood sugar levels. You can make a spicy and yummy upma out of them if you don’t want to have it with milk!

2) Fruits and veggies

Consuming cruciferous veggies like cauliflower and fruits with soluble fibre is a good idea as they tend to get digested slowly and releases sugar in a slow manner into the bloodstream.

3) Nuts

You should add nuts to your daily diet as they are very good for health. They help in controlling high levels of blood sugar and triglycerides.

4) Foods rich in protein

To regulate blood sugar you need to consume protein-rich foods such as legumes, beans, eggs, fish and meat.

5) Bitter Gourd

If you have diabetes and want to control diabetes in a natural way, it is advised that you include bitter gourd in your diet.
